We reached our crowdfunding goal!

Thank you, community! We are blown away by the support you have given to us in co-funding our new location and cannot thank you enough for your support in creating this space with us. In under ten days, we hit our $50,000 target!

Announcing our Stretch Goal!

We have now launched a stretch goal of $75,000. If we can get to $75,000, we will be able to buy more inventory and additional equipment, including: A nut grinder, a juicer, an ice-cream machine, a plant-based milkshake machine, juice and milk dispensers, and a popcorn machine. Please visit www.reimaginegroceries.ca to learn more or to donate!

Our relationship to food is broken, wasteful, and boring.

Did you know that Canadians produce more garbage than any other country in the world? Around 760kg per person per year, in fact. Our garbage bins and blue boxes get taken away every 8 days, but there’s no such place as “away”. It all goes somewhere.

According to a 2018 City of London report, food makes up 45% of the waste in London's landfills. Most of this food could have been eaten, redistributed, or composted instead of being thrown out, especially since London’s landfill is expected to reach capacity by 2024.

At the same time, in the society we live in it's practically impossible for us not to produce waste. Food is sold with excessive packaging and in super-sized portions. Grocery stores prize uniformity over quality, don't source locally, and won't sell what they consider ugly food.

Our new building at 206 Piccadilly Street will add a package-free grocery store: no single-use packaging, just plant-based food that’s local, organic, fresh and affordable.

Here are some of the ways that we plan to tackle food waste:

  • You can buy as little as you need, or save by buying in bulk
  • We will source food as locally as possibly
  • We will sell food that is ugly (but still delicious)
  • We will donate leftover food to people experiencing homelessness and hunger
  • We will offer free workshops on how to choose, use and preserve food

If you have any other questions feel free to use the contact form on our website to get in touch with us! We can't wait for everyone to see the new store!
