Have you ever considered how this popular health snack, “Tropical Mix,” came to be when you grab a wonderful handful of nuts and fruit? Here are some facts about trail mix's history and current popularity: Native Americans ate a tropical mix that included dried buffalo meat for thousands of years. Nuts, dried fruit, and even chocolate are common ingredients in today's tropical mixes. Horace Kephart is credited with inventing this current form of tropical mix in his 1910 camping book. Our Tropical mix includes dried fruits, seeds, and nuts. This blend combines whole red skin peanuts, blanched peanuts, sultana raisins, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sliced bananas, coconut shavings, and cubed papaya and pineapple. Nutty and fruity flavors, this mix is also crunchy and chewy in texture; ideal for snacking, topping, or baking applications.
